Step Up & Step Down Transformer

Product Range

Models in This Range

This is the product we get asked about the most, and the questions all sound the same: “I bought a US appliance in Dubai — will it work on 220V?” “Our imported Japanese machine runs on 110V, but the factory only has 220V. What do we do?” “A client in South Africa needs 380V in, 220V out — can you make it?” Yes, yes and yes. That’s what a step up / step down transformer does: it converts between 110V, 220V and 380V safely, so your equipment works no matter which country it lands in.

Guide

Welcome to our step up / step down transformer range. If you are reading this, chances are you have a piece of equipment that runs on one voltage, and a wall outlet that supplies another. That gap is exactly what these transformers close. Whether you are moving 220V appliances to a 110V country, feeding 380V three-phase gear from a 220V line, or building a product that ships to buyers all over the world, this page walks you through what we make and how to pick the right one.

What we make in this range

Our step up and step down transformers come in three families, and they share the same core: real copper windings on a silicon steel core, no electronic switcher boards inside. That matters because a transformer this size is a buy-once-run-for-years item. We have been winding these in Yueqing for a long time, and we still test every single unit before it goes into a carton.

  • ST Series – single-voltage step down models from 100W to 10KVA, with carrying handle and universal sockets. The go-to for household appliances and travel resellers.
  • STU Series – auto-selecting step up / step down units from 1KVA to 10KVA. You plug in, it reads the input voltage, and switches itself. Built-in RCD protection as standard.
  • DT Series – the workhorse for OEM and industrial use, 100W to 10KVA, with terminal blocks instead of sockets so you can wire it into your own enclosure.

Why buyers come to us direct

Most of our customers are not buying one unit. They are stocking for a shop, kitting for an appliance brand, or supplying contractors who install machines on site. That changes what they care about. They want a transformer that will not come back under warranty, a supplier who answers within a day, and a price that leaves room to resell. That is the whole reason we sell factory direct – no trading company in the middle, and our MOQ is just 10 pieces.

Voltage combinations we cover

Standard combinations we stock and build weekly: 220V to 110V, 110V to 220V, 220V to 380V, 380V to 220V, 240V to 120V and 120V to 240V. Beyond that, tell us your input and output, and we will wind it to match. Custom builds run from 500VA to 30KVA, and we can fit US, EU, UK or AU sockets, or bare terminals, whichever your market needs.

Picking the right size

The short answer: take the wattage your appliance actually draws and add 30% headroom. A 1500W heater needs at least a 2000W transformer. Motors and pumps are the tricky ones – they pull several times their rated current on start-up, so size them at 2 to 3 times the running watts. If you are not sure, send us the appliance nameplate and we will confirm a model within 24 hours. This is the question we answer most, and we would rather you ask than overspend.

What Is a Step Up / Step Down Transformer?

A step up / step down transformer converts AC voltage between two standards — typically between 110V-120V and 220V-240V, or 380V and 220V. It lets you run equipment designed for one voltage standard on mains from another. Ours are bidirectional: wired one way they step up, the other way they step down.

How It Works

How Does It Work?

Inside the unit, two windings share a common core. The primary winding is energized by your mains, and the secondary delivers a voltage set by the winding ratio. Models with an input voltage selector automatically detect the incoming voltage and pick the right winding — so there is nothing to configure, just plug in and switch on.
