The country runs 230V at 50Hz with Type F Schuko outlets, and the conversion is straightforward once you size the transformer right. Here is how the Turkish market works.

Turkey voltage, frequency and plugs

Turkey runs 230V at 50Hz with Type F (Schuko) outlets, the same as Germany and most of continental Europe. The grid is stable in the big cities, and the frequency is solid. For 110V US appliances, you need a step down transformer from 230V to 110V.

Sizing for the Turkish market

For a household appliance under 700W, the ST-1000 (1000VA). For kitchen equipment, a microwave or an espresso machine, the ST-2000 (2000VA) with RCD. For workshops and hotels running several 110V units, the ST-3000 (3000VA) and ST-5000 (5000VA) cover the combined load.

The 2000VA is the most popular size in Turkish residential orders. It handles a microwave, an espresso machine, or a full AV stack with headroom to spare.

Buying locally vs importing

You can find basic step down units in electrical markets like Perpa in Istanbul, but the selection of high-VA and isolation models is limited and prices are higher per VA. Importing from a factory with a 15 to 25 day lead time is cheaper per VA and comes with a real warranty and test reports.

Customs and documents

Currency and payment terms

Turkish buyers work in lira, and import pricing in dollars or euros means the exchange rate swings directly affect your margin. The standard terms we offer are 30% deposit with the order and 70% against the Bill of Lading copy, which protects both sides on a container order. For samples, we ship on 100% payment with air freight, and the sample cost is deducted from the first bulk order.

If you are reselling, lock in the exchange rate at the quotation stage by confirming the price validity window, usually 15 days, and place the deposit inside that window so a lira swing does not eat your margin before the PO is placed.

Sample orders and market testing

Before a full container, run a sample order across the sizes you plan to stock. A sample of one each of the 1000VA, 2000VA and 3000VA, shipped by air to Istanbul in 7 to 10 days, lets you photograph the units, test them on your appliances, and list them on your channel before you commit the container capital.

Product certification for the Turkish market

Electrical products sold in Turkey need CE marking and the accompanying declaration, which we provide with every ST series shipment. The CE documentation is the document your customs broker and your retail buyers will both ask for, and it covers the low voltage directive and the EMC requirements for the transformer category.

For retail listing on Turkish platforms, the CE mark needs to be visible on the product photos, and the importer needs the CE declaration of conformity on file. We provide both, plus the test reports that back the declaration, so your listing and your audit file are complete.

For Turkish buyers, the last practical point is the plug standard on the 110V side. A US appliance has a US plug, and the transformer’s output socket must match it.
